Subdivision 051 Abduction and kidnapping

The unlawful confinement of a person against that person’s will, or against the will of any parent, guardian or other person having lawful custody or care of that person.

This subdivision is not further disaggregated.

Offences in this subdivision are classified into the following group:

The unlawful taking away or confinement of a person against that person’s will, or against the will of any parent, guardian or other person having lawful custody or care of that person.

Inclusions:

Abduct with sexual intent

Abduct with intent to marry

Kidnap for ransom/gain

Attempt or threat of abduction

Exclusions:

Take a hostage in a robbery/siege situation where the hostage is not transported to a different location. These are coded to Group 0521, Deprivation of liberty/false imprisonment.

Sexual servitude offences. These are coded to Group 0323, Sexual servitude offences.
