Ceasing of Labour Force, Australia, Detailed publication
This release of Labour Force, Australia, Detailed will be the final release under this publication title.
The Upcoming changes to Labour Force Survey outputs information paper outlines release plans for Labour Force data from April to August 2026.
A further information paper will also be released in the coming months, detailing the release plans following the completion of the Modernising the Labour Force Survey program. All tables that are due to be continued post Modernisation program will be published in Labour Force, Australia.
If you would like to seek further information on these plans, please contact labour.statistics@abs.gov.au.
Data from the monthly Labour Force Survey are currently released in two stages:
- Labour Force, Australia - which contains headline estimates of employment, unemployment, underemployment, participation and hours worked
- Labour Force, Australia, Detailed - which contains detailed data not included in the first release
This second release of Labour Force Survey data includes the latest detailed monthly and quarterly data. Some information, including industry, occupation, job duration, and retrenchment, is only available for February, May, August and November.
As a result, in the 'non-quarter' months, the quarterly spreadsheets and datacubes have a different reference period. For example, the May issue contains May monthly and May quarterly data, while the July issue will contain July monthly and May quarterly data.
For more information on the data contained in the first and second releases, see the Survey output section of the Labour Force Survey Methodology page.
The ABS has also released updated data for the new Labour Force underemployment and underutilisation u-series in the following article: Underemployment and underutilisation 'u-series', March 2026.
