2021 Census data release launch

The 2021 Census of Population and Housing data has revealed key insights about where we live, our ancestry and what languages we speak. 

For the first time, Census data also includes information about long-term health conditions and service in the Australian Defence Force.

The data release launch was hosted at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and live streamed on Tuesday 28 June at 10:00am AEST. 

Presenters included:

  • Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP, Assistant Minister for Competition, Charities and Treasury
  • Professor Sandra Harding AO, Emeritus Professor, James Cook University. Chair of the 2021 Census Statistical Independent Assurance Panel and former Chair of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council (2001-2006)
  • Dr David Gruen AO, Australian Statistician
  • Teresa Dickinson PSM, Deputy Australian Statistician and Senior Responsible Officer for the 2021 Census.

An audience question and answer session followed the presentation.
