During the June 2025 quarter:

• Total residential mortgages rose $3.3b (2.3%) to $146.3b.
• Total asset backed long-term debt securities issued domestically rose $2.3b (1.3%) to $181.6b.

• Average weekly household spending on goods and services was $1,425.
• Household spending on goods and services increased by 15% since 2009-10.
• Average weekly spending on goods and services was highest in the Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory and lowest in Tasmania and South Australia.

• Total average property assets increased from $653,700 per household in December 2019 to $731,100 in December 2020.
• Income from government payments increased by $55 per week, to $263 per week.

In 2019–20

• Average equivalised disposable household income was $1,124 per week.
• Average net worth for all Australian households in 2019–20 was $1.04 million.
• Total average liabilities for households saw a statistically significant increase from $189,500 in 2017–18 to $203,800 in 2019–20.
• Three in four (75%) households had debt in 2019–20.

• Total labour costs incurred by employers were $760.9 billion.

• The total number of new loan commitments for dwellings rose 1.9% in the June quarter 2025 while the value rose 2.0%.
• The number of new owner occupier loan commitments for dwellings rose 0.9% in the quarter while the value rose 2.4%.
• The number of new investor loan commitments for dwellings rose 3.5% in the quarter while the value rose 1.4%.
• The number of new owner occupier first home buyer loan commitments for dwellings rose 1.7% in the quarter while the value rose 5.7%

During the December 2023 quarter:

• the total managed funds industry rose $176.6b (3.9%) to $4,751.5b funds under management
• consolidated assets of managed funds institutions rose $152.1b (4.1%) to $3,883.7b
• cross invested assets rose $24.5b (4.5%) to $568.2b
• unconsolidated assets rose $176.6b (4.1%) to $4,451.9b.

In September 2025, household spending:

• Rose 0.2% month-on-month on a current price, seasonally adjusted basis.
• In volume terms, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose 0.2% in the September quarter 2025.
