How this variable is created
This variable is derived from the overseas born indicator (OBIP) variable, which indicates whether a person was born overseas or in Australia.
Households are grouped into different categories based on the countries of birth of their members:
Households are classified as an ‘Overseas born household’ if at least one member of the household is born overseas.
Households are classified as ‘Australian born household’ if all members of the household were born in Australia.
Households are classified as ‘Partially stated Australian born household’ when there is a combination of household members who were born in Australia, and at least one household member did not state birthplace or was coded to 'Inadequately described'.
Households are classified as ‘Not stated’ households when all household members did not state their birthplace or were coded to 'Inadequately described'.
