Jenet Connell

Jenet Connell, Deputy Australian Statistician, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Audit Executive and Chief Risk Officer

Jenet Connell is the Deputy Australian Statistician, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Audit Executive and Chief Risk Officer. Jenet is responsible for enterprise strategy and managing the full range of corporate enablers.

Jenet has worked within a number of central and line agencies and departments, across the APS.

Prior to joining the ABS, she was the Deputy Australian Public Service Commissioner, and previously worked as the Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the then Department of Immigration and Border Protection; Deputy Secretary, COO with the Department of Finance; Executive Manager within the Biosecurity Services Group of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; and Group Manager with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

Before joining the APS, Jenet spent three years in the private sector, working in a highly successful web development company in Perth, WA. Prior to that she spent some years as a senior executive within both the Victorian and the WA Public Service in workplace relations and small business policy. Jenet is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and sits on the Advisory Board of the Canberra Business School (University of Canberra).  Jenet is also a member of the Audit Committee of Sports Integrity Australia and holds a master’s degree in Organisational Psychology.

Lane Masterton

Lane Masterton, General Manager and Chief People Officer

Lane is the General Manager of our Corporate Services Division and Chief People Officer.

Lane has over 15 years’ experience as a Senior Executive with the ABS, in his current role he is responsible for leading Human Resources, Finance and Property functions. Prior to this role, Lane led a major transformation program for the ABS, he has also held senior executive roles in ICT and data collection services and was the Victorian Regional Director for the ABS.

Lane is passionate about creating an environment that embraces diversity and provides flexibility in working arrangements. He is the ABS Senior Champion for the Disability and Carers Network.

Prior to being promoted to the senior executive service, Lane held a variety of ICT roles across the public and private sectors, largely in the areas of information technology infrastructure and Cyber security.

Ian Scensor

Ian Scensor, General Manager, Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer

Ian’s career has spanned over 30 years within Information Technology and Communication (ICT) across both the public and private sectors largely associated with the delivery of business outcomes and transformation initiatives for the Australian Government.

He is enthusiastic about being a leader within Australian Government given the unique opportunity to shape the future and serve the community. He believes in a digital world, ICT is not just a business enabler, but through the introduction of innovation, can drive alternate business operating models and significantly improve organisational outcomes.

Since 2011, he has been part of Australian Public Service (APS) as a Senior Executive Service (SES) which commenced whilst he was at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). He transitioned to the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment in 2018. In 2021, Ian joined the Department of Health and Aged Care as a First Assistant Secretary within the Information Technology Division. Shortly after this period he moved into the role of the Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer.

As a SES leader, Ian has had executive accountability for large-scale business applications, collaboration and end user systems, enterprise operations and service management, strategy, architecture and design, protective and cyber security, data and analytic platforms, and infrastructure. Most of his career has been enabling digital transformation change initiatives for both businesses and citizens as part of the Australian Government.

Throughout Ian’s Australian Public Service career, he has had a strong focus on client and business centric provision of service through collaboration and partnerships.
