Admin data is a diverse collection of information collected by government agencies, businesses and other organisations. Such data can be produced through transactions and information compiled for regulatory reporting. Some examples are:
- personal income tax information from the Australian Taxation Office.
- information about Medicare transactions from the Department of Health.
- government assistance information from Centrelink.
The ABS only collects and uses admin data for statistics and research. Our analysts only access de-identified data, and we don't share or release this information in a way that could identify anyone.
