NGD Remote Connection Issues Form Collection Notice

This Collection Notice explains the collection of your personal information by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) through the Request NextGen Desktop (NGD) IT Support form. The purpose of the form is to provide you with a way of contacting the ABS for assistance when you are experiencing NextGen Desktop (NGD) remote connection issues or when you are working overseas. 

Purpose and collection of personal information

To contact you about your enquiry, we will collect the following personal information:

  • your login UserID
  • your full name
  • your phone number

Where there is personal information provided by you, the ABS will only collect and use the relevant solicited information for the business function of responding to your enquiry or referring it to another ABS business area. Any other personal information that is provided, but is not relevant to your enquiry, will be managed in accordance with relevant legislation, ABS policies and procedures. 

Use and disclosure of personal information

The ABS will only use your personal information to manage and contact you about your enquiry. Please refer to the ABS Privacy Policy for more information.

Other personal and/or sensitive information provided by you may be used in accordance with the ABS processes, procedures and relevant legislation to manage your enquiry. The ABS will not share your details with any other parties outside the ABS, unless required by Australian Law. 

The ABS has partnered with a trusted third party, Epicon, as our Managed Service Provider to provide ServiceNow technical support. Epicon meets all Australian Government privacy and data storage requirements and contractually bound to adhere to the Privacy Act 1988 and ABS expectations and obligations. 

Storage and security of personal information

Your personal information is stored in the ServiceNow Protected Cloud for Australia (SPP AU) offering. This provides strictly in-country data storage, along with support provided by Australian citizens that have obtained the required Australian security clearances and operate from Australian soil. 

Retention of personal information

The retention and deletion of your personal information will be managed by the relevant ABS business area managing the enquiry in accordance with the relevant legislation.

How will your personal information be managed? 

The comply with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Archives Act 1983 in the storage, collection, access, use, disclosure, retention and destruction of your personal information.
