Microdata prices

Microdata access is priced in accordance with ABS Pricing Policy and Commonwealth Cost Recovery Guidelines.

To ensure our services are sustainable and meet customer needs we have moved our cost recovery to a new annual subscription basis, ensuring a service that offers benefits such as:

  • access to the latest microdata within your subscription, as well as ongoing access to historic microdata, to create powerful stories about change and transformation
  • reduced registration red tape
  • improved help facilities tailored to your needs.
Microdata subscriptions are provided by grouping relevant datasets into data series. For a full listing of the datasets that are included in each data series, refer to the Expected and Available Microdata page.

How to pay

You can add data series to your organisation's annual subscription at any time of year. Contact microdata.access@abs.gov.au for further information.

An invoice will be emailed to the organisation following approval by ABS of the microdata application. Once payment is received, then access is granted.

Staff and students of universities participating in the ABS/Universities Australia Agreement will not be invoiced. This is because Universities Australia has paid for access on behalf of participating universities.

How to apply

To apply for TableBuilder products and Census DataPacks, register and apply through the Registration Centre.

To apply for Basic and Expanded CURFs, register and apply through MiCRO.
