Labour Force Survey and Employee Earnings, Benefits and Trade Union Membership Survey, Australia (2006) Basic and Expanded

This Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF) contains data from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) and the Employee Earnings, Benefits and Trade Union Membership (EEBTUM) Survey conducted in August 2006.

The LFS provides labour force and demographic characteristics for the civilian population aged 15 years and over, including state, sex, age, marital status, birthplace, industry of main job and occupation of main job.

The EEBTUM Survey provides data on the weekly earnings of employees, full-time/part-time workers, leave entitlements, sector, hours worked and hours paid. It also provides data on employment benefits, such as sick leave, annual leave, shares and superannuation coverage and on the level of trade union membership.

Two CURFs are available from the LFS and EEBTUM Survey, August 2006:

  • BASIC - this CURF contains a basic set of data items at a reduced level of detail. It is available to access on CD-ROM or via the ABS Remote Access Data Laboratory (RADL).
  • EXPANDED - this CURF contains an expanded set of data items at a more detailed level than the Basic CURF, and is only accessible via the RADL.

Steps to confidentialise the dataset are taken to ensure the integrity of data, optimise its content and maintain confidentiality of respondents. They include removing any information that might uniquely identify an individual, reducing the level of detail for some items and collapsing some categories.

For more information and the detailed list of data items, please refer to the Labour Force Survey and Employee Earnings, Benefits and Trade Union Membership, 2006, Basic and Expanded CURF, Technical Manual (cat. no. 6202.0.30.002).
