Consumer Price Index (CPI) statistics
The CPI is now released monthly. The latest CPI statistics are available in the Consumer Price Index, Australia latest release.
Quarterly CPI data can be found in tables 17 and 18 in the Data downloads. Data for the most recent quarter will be added to tables 17 and 18 when the monthly CPI is published for the months of March, June, September and December.
The previously published quarterly data has been re-referenced and aligned to the new monthly CPI series. More information on re-referencing is available in Re-referencing the quarterly Consumer Price Index.
Please note, while the ABS acknowledges that the CPI and other economic measures are used to inform contracts, the ABS does not provide advice on contractual arrangements. The information paper Use of Price Indexes in Contracts outlines our role and the use of price indexes in contracts.
The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the CPI page has answers to a number of common questions, including how to use the CPI to calculate the change in prices between any two points in time.
