Introduction

This publication contains the supply-use tables for 2023-24, 2022-23 and 2021-22. The data in this release is consistent with the 2024-25 release of the Australian System of National Accounts.

Supply-use tables are an integral and essential element of the ABS national accounts. They are the building blocks for the Australian System of National Accounts (ASNA). The tables:

  • provide details about the supply and use of products in the Australian economy
  • provide details about the structure of and interrelationships between Australian industries
  • balance GDP using the production, expenditure and income approaches
  • provide annual benchmarks (levels) from which the quarterly estimates are compiled.

The supply-use tables are available through Data Explorer as time series (starting 1994-95).

Historical revisions

The supply-use tables introduce revisions for the 3 open years as part of the standard benchmarking process. These standard revisions affect most products and industries in the supply-use tables. The 3 open years for this release are the 2023-24, 2022-23 and 2021-22 reference years.

Other revisions target individual products and industries in a given year. These targeted revisions can affect any supply-use year (starting 1994-95). They are also referred to as historical revisions.

The 2025 round of revisions incorporates two major historical revisions:  the improved annual measurement of Accommodation services and the incorporation of solar generated electricity. Refer to the Impacts from the 2025 Annual National Accounts historical revisions article for further details of these historical revisions improvements.
