The ABS provides help to build statistical skills and to use data. Some of this help is free, while other more specialised assistance (such as some training courses) are charged for.

The ABS also conducts information sessions in regional areas. Discuss your organisation's needs with your state/territory Information Skills Program contact.

FREE INFORMATION SESSIONS

The ABS provides free information sessions to state/territory clients and local government clients about ABS products and services, including introductory ABS website navigation and Census sessions. Check the Training Calendar for information about upcoming sessions in your state or territory capital city.

The ABS also conducts information sessions in regional areas. Discuss your organisation's needs with your state/territory Information Skills Program contact.


OTHER ABS TRAINING

The ABS Training page is a source of information about ABS training opportunities from beginners to advanced. This includes statistical training, training on how to make the best use of ABS products, and self directed learning.

STATISTICAL CONSULTANCY SERVICES AND OUTPOSTED OFFICERS

Do you need to design a survey form, and don't know where to start? Do you have data requiring complex statistical analysis? Our consultants have the expertise to help clarify your objectives and plan your project effectively.

The ABS Statistical Consultancy service provides access to professional statisticians with wide ranging experience and expertise in survey design, data analysis, and specialist knowledge in a range of statistical fields, including time series analysis and forms design.

You may have a need for short term or medium term in-house statistical expertise. The ABS can provide Outposted Officers to assist with statistical projects.

COMMUNITY OF USERS AND PRODUCERS OF STATISTICS

The National Statistical Service (NSS) is a coalition of agencies that will deliver to Australia an improved range of statistical information for policy, research and decision making. A 'Community of Users and Producers of Statistics' (CUPS) has been formed to provide a forum for sharing information and for organising community networking and activities. CUPS is open to anyone with a statistical or statistically-related role in Australian, State and local governments and the academic and business sectors.

The CUPS website contains information on: training, recruitment and career development, statistical references, and links to conferences, seminars and workshops of interest to the Community. The CUPS website also links to relevant professional associations and information networks.

REDISTRIBUTING ABS DATA

If you redistribute ABS data (for example, on your website), you may need to enter into a licencing agreement with the ABS.
