Same Sex Couple Indicator

Same Sex Couple Indicator (SSCF)

This variable indicates whether or not a family are a same-sex couple.

In the 2011 Census, data on the relationships people have with others in the same dwelling, including husband/wife or defacto partner, is mainly derived from question 5 on the Census Household Form, which asks for each person’s relationship to Person 1 on the form.

For further information, please refer to the data quality statement for Relationship in Household (RLHP). Also refer to the Same Sex Couple fact sheet for more details.

More information on Same Sex Couple Indicator (SSCF) is available in the 2011 Census Dictionary (cat. no. 2901.0).
