80 Census Collectors hit the streets of the City of Sydney29 July 2011 | NSW/79240 Census Collectors will hit the streets of central Sydney today to deliver Census forms to each townhouse, secure apartment building and dormitory and ensure that every person is accurately counted on Census night, Tuesday, 9 August. Among them will be 24 year old local singer-songwriter Alex Gibson, who is beating the Census drum for the first time as a Census Collector. As a local Glebe resident, Alex knows the area well and also gets to perform at some of the hippest music venues in Sydney, such as The Basement, The Vanguard and Opera Bar. Alex has joined this year's Census team as a Census Collector responsible the area around Broadway. "There is a lot of high density living around these parts. Many students from all the nearby universities - University of Sydney, UTS and Ultimo TAFE and there's RPA too - which means lots of nurses. "It's a diverse, multicultural part of town where residents range from the wealthy to the poor and everything in between. "No matter where you sit on that scale, everyone needs to get involved and complete their Census form so that we can get an accurate snapshot of the nation," adds Alex. The Census can be completed either online using eCensus or filling out the paper form. The eCensus is a simple, fast and secure option for Sydney residents and means that the Census Collector won't have to return to your house to pick up your completed form.
