Family Household Composition (Family)

Family Household Composition (Family) (HCFMF)

This variable combines responses from two variables, Household Compostion (HHCD) and Family Composition (FMCF) to identify family structure(s) within the dwelling. Data for these variables are mainly derived from the relationship questions (questions 5 and 53) on the Census Household Form.

During the processing of Census data, family and household types are identified and created based around a ‘family or household reference person’ (usually Person 1 on the Census Household Form), and HHCD and FMCF are derived.

For further information see the data quality statements for Household Composition (HHCD) and Family Composition (FMCF).

More information on Family Household Composition (Family) (HCFMF) is available in the 2011 Census Dictionary (cat. no. 2901.0).
