Measures, installs, maintains and repairs security doors, window screens, grilles and shutters in residential and commercial premises.

Main tasks

  • Measures entryway and window frames to determine dimensions and assess whether surfaces are suitable for installation of security doors, shutters or screens
  • Selects or prepares security doors, shutters or screens to fit the dimensions and requirements of each installation site
  • Drills, anchors and secures fixtures to surrounding brick, timber or other building materials using heavy-duty, tamper-resistant fasteners
  • Installs multi-point locking systems, handles, hinges and bug seals, and tests fixtures to confirm correct operation
  • Checks that completed installations meet relevant Australian standards and product specifications for security and safety
  • May provide post-installation maintenance and repair services to ensure fixtures continue to operate correctly and comply with warranty requirements
