Main tasks
- Conducts intake, screening and suitability assessments for mediation, including risk and safety screening where appropriate
- Designs and manages mediation processes, including preparation, individual and joint sessions, and follow up
- Explains the mediation process, confidentiality requirements and the mediator's neutral role to participants
- Facilitates communication and negotiation between parties to identify issues, interests and options for resolution
- Applies mediation and conflict-resolution techniques to facilitate negotiation and decision-making by the parties
- Maintains impartiality and procedural fairness, manages power imbalances and supports safe and respectful participation
- Assists parties to document outcomes reached and liaises with legal or other advisers where relevant
- Maintains records, referrals and reporting requirements in accordance with organisational, legal and ethical requirements
