Designs, builds, implements, maintains and monitors reliable, scalable and automated systems to ensure the reliability, availability and performance of software systems.

Main tasks
- Develops code to automate operational tasks, minimising manual intervention and to drive reliability across systems
- Detects, responds to and resolves system or application incidents, including emergency outages and on-call support
- Builds and maintains monitoring tools, sets up alerting systems and continuously monitors system health to pre-empt issues
- Analyses performance, assesses bottlenecks and optimises systems for scalability, stability and throughput
- Identifies and mitigates risks, troubleshoots problems and implements disaster recovery strategies
- Supports controlled deployments using strategies such as deployment of new software features, rollback plans and release monitoring to maintain availability during updates to software and systems
- Maintains comprehensive documentation, including operational procedures, incident responses and post-mortem analyses to facilitate organisational learning
- Collaborates with software development, operations and support teams to ensure seamless deployment, effective incident response and knowledge sharing
