Selected non-ABS websites Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE) ABARE is an Australian government economic research agency. It seeks to contribute to the competitiveness of Australia’s agricultural, fishing, forestry, energy and minerals industries and the quality of the Australian environment by providing rigorous and independent economic research analysis and forecasting. Results of its research are disseminated through the media, internet, the national Outlook conference, regional Outlook conferences around Australia and speaking engagements. All information on the web site is available free. http://www.abare.gov.au/ The ABARE data holdings include; - crop reports - livestock numbers - farm finance estimates - small area production/area data (AgSurf) http://www.abare.gov.au/interactive/agsurf/about_data/surveyestimates.htm Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation The Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation is an Australian Government statutory authority established in 1981 to provide strategic support to the Australian wine sector. They make available online Regional Winegrape Crush survey data via WINEFACTS Statistics under the "Grape Crush" menu item. Time series data for prices and tonnes crushed and Winegrape crush forecasts are also available. http://www.wineaustralia.com/australia/ Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) DAFF's role is to develop and implement policies and programs that ensure Australia's agricultural, fisheries, food and forestry industries remain competitive, profitable and sustainable. It can provide information on a variety of subjects including Agricultural Levies; Animal Health; Pest & Disease; and Quarantine. http://www.daff.gov.au/ Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) A national research, development and marketing organisation that works in partnership with the horticulture sector to invest in programs that provide benefit to Australian horticulture industries. HAL runs research, development and marketing projects covering a diversity of topics including consumer marketing, market research, supply chain management, export marketing, market access, quality assurance, food safety, skills development, industry communication, biosecurity, biotechnology, breeding, plant health, pesticide regulation, agronomy, crop regulation, physiology, irrigation and sustainable practices. HAL does not conduct research and development itself. It contracts organisations such as state departments of agriculture, universities and the CSIRO to undertake the work. HAL conducts some activities within the marketing program but also engages external suppliers to undertake marketing activities. http://www.horticulture.com.au Meat and Livestock Australia Meat and Livestock Australia Limited (MLA) is a producer- owned company that provides services to livestock producers, processors, exporters, foodservice operators and retailers. One collection conducted on behalf of the MLA is the annual Lamb Survey, a survey, conducted by Axiom Research, of randomly selected lamb producers across Australia.http://www.mla.com.au/ National Livestock Reporting Service (NLRS) This service is offered by MLA. Through its network of livestock market officers, the NLRS collects market data from the key auction and direct markets across Australia, in addition to slaughter statistics, wholesale, skin and hide prices. http://www.mla.com.au/ Rural Lands Protection Boards' Association Rural Lands Protection Boards (RLPBs) play a key role in protecting rural lands in New South Wales. They deliver essential services to ratepayers and others in each district as the frontline in the management of animal health, pest, animal and insect control, travelling stock reserves, stock movement, stock identification and natural disaster relief.
