QUEENSLAND

In 2017-18:

  • The number of people living in Greater Brisbane increased by 50,100 (2.1%), while the number living outside the capital city increased by 33,500 people (1.3%).
  • Greater Brisbane's growth rate remained unchanged from 2016-17.

Largest growth areas: The Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) of Pimpama, on the Gold Coast (up by 3,700 people), followed by Jimboomba (2,500) on the southern outskirts of Greater Brisbane, and North Lakes - Mango Hill (2,400) in the Moreton Bay region, north of Brisbane.

Fastest growth areas: Pimpama (29%) followed by the Ipswich suburb of Ripley (18%).
