2026 Census Privacy Assurance Report - Census Independent Privacy Advisor

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has engaged Maddocks as the Census Independent Privacy Advisor (CIPA) for the 2026 Census.

The CIPA provides independent privacy expertise and advice to support the design, development and implementation of Census activities. The role helps the ABS identify and assess privacy risks, review privacy protections and controls, and consider opportunities to strengthen privacy outcomes throughout Census planning and delivery.

As part of the engagement for the 2026 Census, the CIPA has prepared an Assurance Report for the ABS.
