Minor update to Standard Australian Classification of Countries (SACC) now available
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released an updated version of the Standard Australian Classification of Countries (SACC).
The ABS updates country names in the Standard Australian Classification of Countries (SACC) to reflect the country titles recognised by the Australian Government.
In September 2025, the Australian Government announced its formal recognition of the state of Palestine.
Today the ABS released the updated SACC. The ABS changed the name of: 'Occupied Palestinian Territories' to 'Palestine'. All instances of ‘Occupied Palestinian Territories’ in the current SACC publication have been updated.
The updated classification will be reflected in future data collections and data releases.
