Accessible support options for the 2026 Census
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is committed to delivering an accessible 2026 Census, making it as easy as possible for everyone to participate.
Emily Walter, Census national spokesperson, said: “We want to make sure everyone is included in this year’s Census, and have developed a range of accessible support options for those who need it.
“This includes Australian Sign Language video guides and easy to read fact sheets that provide information on what to do and where to get help to complete the Census.
“For those who want help to complete their form in person or have questions about the Census, we will have a range of Pop-up Hubs, fill in the form and information sessions available in many locations across Australia.”
People can request a Census form in Braille or a large print form by calling the Census Contact Centre on 1800 181 227 or requesting one via the Census website.
The Census website has been designed to be compatible with screen readers and speech recognition software, with written transcripts for every video and audio clip available to download. People can also contact the ABS through the National Relay Service (NRS) to receive assistance.

- The Census is compulsory. Everyone in Australia on Census night must be included on a Census form. This includes visitors and visa holders.
