Consumption of water in the 2016-17 financial year:

  • Total consumption increased 3% to 16,558 GL
  • Household consumption increased 1% to 1,909 GL
  • Total industry increased 3% to 14,649 GL
  • The Agriculture forestry and fishing industry accounted for 72% of the total industry consumption.

Monetary expenditure on water and related services:
  • Total expenditure on water and related services remained steady at $17,348m
  • Households continued to be the largest contributor to expenditure, spending $10,614m and accounting for 61% of total expenditure
  • Industry spent $6,652m on water, accounting for 38% of total expenditure.
