The Census of Population and Housing is the largest statistical collection undertaken by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It measures the number of people in Australia on Census Night, their key characteristics, and the dwellings in which they live.

The most recent Census was conducted on 8 August, 2006, and the first data are expected to be released in mid 2007.
