CDATA96 - Detailed information on each of the Datapaks

          Usual Residents Profile

If you need accurate demographic data based on where people usually live (as opposed to where they were counted on census night), then the Usual Residents Profile will be invaluable - whether you are a shopping centre, library, hospital or government authority, this profile will focus on the resident population that you service.

Usual Residents information is essential for people wanting to analyse the usual make up of an area. Usual Residents Profile data may be accessed for Statistical Local Area (SLA), Local Government Area (LGA), Statistical Subdivision (SSD), Statistical Division (SD), Statistical District (SDist), Postal Area, State and Australia.

          Expanded Community Profile

If the Basic Community Profile is not detailed enough for you, then the Expanded Community Profile may hold the key as it provides many more categories within each classification. An example is "occupation": in the Basic Community Profile there are 11 occupation categories, however the Expanded Community Profile will unlock 116 occupation categories.

The expanded Community Profile contains 41 tables including more detailed variants of the Basic Community Profile tables and provides data for the following geographic levels: SLA, LGA, SSD, SD, SDist, State and Australia.

SEIFA96 - Socio Economic Indexes For Areas - Profiling the Population.

If your organisation is in the business of demographic profiling, survey design, service provision or research, SEIFA96 is an essential addition.

It enables you to target lifestyle groups for an area of interest and give you a better understanding of a particular community.

SEIFA96 provides five indexes which group Australians according to their social and economic attributes: Indexes of advantages, disadvantages, economic resources and education and occupation.

SEIFA96 effectively ranks a wide range of geographic areas from Collection Districts (a few suburban street blocks), postal areas, Local Government Areas through to an entire state or territory. As an alternative, you may wish to generate a series of Indexes for your own catchment area!

SEIFA96 can also be purchased as a stand-alone product.

          Working Population Profile

This Profile contains 17 tables of labour force and related data on the characteristics of people who work and are counted in SLAs within the journey to work (JTW) study areas. It has been developed for those analysts who require an industry profile of occupations, hours worked and method of travel to work for those statistical local areas within the capital cities. This profile is available at the SLA level.

          Indigenous Profile

If you require detailed information about Australia's Indigenous population and their demographic characteristics, then the Indigenous Profile is an essential addition to your CDATA96 package. This profile is an important reference for any researcher, social analyst or historian.

The Indigenous Profile provides 26 tables for Indigenous Areas, ATSIC Regions, States and Territories. The first three tables which provide "selected characteristics" are made available at the smallest geographic level, Indigenous Location.

          Estimated Resident Population

The Final Estimated Resident Population provides ERP counts by SLA by five year age group and sex as at 30 June 1991 and 1996, based on the 1996 Census Boundaries. This dataset is a useful resource for a wide range of commercial and government analysis.

It is the official ABS estimate of the Australian population. The estimate is always compiled at the 30th June in the Census year.

          Detailed Base Map
