Australian Longitudinal Learning Database

The Australian Longitudinal Learning Database (ALLD) is envisaged as an enduring research base of education data comprising enrolment, performance and socio-demographic information drawn from a wide variety of sources. With its focus on students rather than institutions, the proposed ALLD has enormous potential to establish a comprehensive picture of education outcomes, pathways and transitions from across the various education sectors.

The ABS is currently taking the first steps to trial components of the ALLD. These include feasibility testing of linkage between education datasets and the Census, the transition of the National Schools Statistics Collection to a unit-record collection, and pilot testing of linkage between early childhood and schools data.
