Perspectives on Education and Training: Social Inclusion

This article uses the ABS 2009 Survey of Education and Training (SET) to examine three ‘at risk’ groups of people aged 15-24 years who may be vulnerable to social exclusion – people with a disability (including mental illness), people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people from low socio-economic backgrounds. Each group has been assessed in terms of educational attainment and participation, engagement in work and study, barriers to learning, and participation in non-formal learning activities.
