This guide provides information about the release of microdata on Participation in Sport and Physical Recreation from the 2011–12 Multipurpose Household Survey (MPHS). Information in the guide includes details on how to use data through a Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF) or TableBuilder product and advice about the reliability of the estimates. The guide provides some links to general information on the conduct of the MPHS including the survey methodology, weighting and benchmarking. Data item lists and information on the conditions of use and definitions used are also included.

Microdata are the most detailed information available from a survey and are generally the responses to individual questions on the questionnaire or data derived from two or more questions. They are released with the approval of the Australian Statistician.

DATA AVAILABLE ON REQUEST

Some data collected in the survey may not be included on Expanded CURF or TableBuilder but may be available on request, on a fee–for–service basis. Subject to confidentiality and sampling variability constraints, special tabulations can be produced incorporating data items, populations and geographic areas, selected to meet individual requirements.
