Meat cattle are raised throughout NSW; the highest concentrations are in the Northern and North Western Statistical Divisions.

At 30 June 2005, the NSW meat cattle herd stood at 5.3 million.

At 30 June 2005, most meat cattle in NSW were found in the Northern Statistical Division (1.8 million). This was followed by the North Western Statistical Division with 616,000.
