Peppermint Grove and Cottesloe top Western Australia's income list People living in the inner-city areas of Peppermint Grove and Cottesloe are among some of Australia's highest average income earners, according to figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Peppermint Grove recorded an average total income of $100,075 in 2007-08, followed by Cottesloe ($98,219). The central metropolitan areas of Nedlands ($82,840), Mosman Park ($79,505) and Claremont ($75,781) round out the top five income areas in Western Australia. Around 20% of regions in Western Australia recorded average total incomes above the state average ($47,488). Of these, half were located outside the Perth metropolitan area, mostly in key mining regions. These include the north-western areas of Roebourne ($70,261), Ashburton ($66,894), East Pilbara ($65,354) and Port Headland ($63,816). These data include income from wages and salaries, own unincorporated business, investment, and superannuation and annuities, but do not include government pensions and allowances.
