DECEMBER KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, the December 2010 merchandise imports were $18,146m, a decrease of $1,006m (5%) on the November 2010 merchandise imports of $19,152m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms decreased $874m (5%). In seasonally adjusted terms goods debits increased $238m (1%) from $17,672m in November 2010 to $17,910m in December 2010. Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $642m (8%) with the fuels and lubricants component up $426m (17%) and the other merchandise goods component up $169m. Non-monetary gold fell $201m (34%), capital goods fell $155m (4%) and consumption goods fell $49m (1%).
