District managers - a Census job you can count on14 October 2010 | CO/02The Australian Bureau of Statistics needs 22 New South Wales District Managers to help oversee the largest peacetime logistical exercise in Australia, the 2011 Census of Population and Housing. District Managers will be based in every major region of New South and will organise the distribution and collection of approximately 14.2 million Census forms to Australia’s 9.8 million households. They will also supervise the recruitment and training of Census Area Supervisors and Census Collectors in the lead up to the national Census on 9 August 2011. Head of the Population Census program Paul Lowe said, "Working on the Census is a wonderful opportunity for everyday Australians to contribute to their community." "District Managers make a big difference to the quality and accuracy of the data that we produce from the Census. The data has benefits for your state, town and community, and for you and your friends and families," Mr Lowe said. District Managers will receive between $35,000 and $55,000 for the part-time 10 month position and will be employed from January until October 2011.
