Most potatoes in Tasmania are grown in a wide strip along the north-west coast from the Circular Head municipality, through to the Northern Midlands municipality south of Launceston, together with sections of the Dorset municipality in the north-east.

In 2004-05, Tasmanian farmers produced 321,000 tonnes of potatoes.

In 2004-05, 56% of all potatoes produced in Tasmania came from the Mersey-Lyell Statistical Division (181,000 tonnes).
