1997 Castles Shield fun run

Fun Runs come and Fun Runs go but this charity event will be just too good to miss. So if you live in Canberra or nearby come on and join the 1997 ABS Castles Shield Fun Run as an individual or organize a team. All profits will go to the ACT Cancer Society.

The run, a lunch time event organized by the Australian Bureau of Statistics Social Club, will be held on Thursday, 1 May. The course covers 6.1 km around Lake Ginninderra and open to teams and individuals.

Team entries are open to Government Departments, Schools, Colleges and private enterprise organizations. Bonus points will be allocated to teams as the number of team members (who finish) increase. The larger the team, the greater the number of bonus points awarded.

Trophies and prizes will be available for the following categories:
  • Open Team (1st)
  • School / College Team (1st)
  • Small Team (less than 20 members) (1st)
  • Open Male (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
  • Open Female (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
  • Junior Male (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
  • Junior Female (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
  • ABS Male (1st)
  • ABS Female (1st)

Random and barrel draw prizes will supplement prizes for placegetters. While final prizes are to be determined in consultation with sponsors, previous years prizes have included interstate travel and accommodation packages, computers, software, lunches, vouchers etc.

Entry fees are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. A limited number of Fun Run T-shirts will be available for $15.
