Purpose
To provide information on vehicle road use in Australia and the States.

Description
The national road database was revised and restructured to better align with industry estimates of fuel consumed and distanced travelled. It is based on existing data and collections.

  • Tonne kilometres;
  • Passenger kilometres;
  • Fuel and energy consumed;
  • Emissions;
  • Productivity measures; and
  • Fuel consumption rate.

Geographic Coverage
Australia, States and Territories, capital cities, urban and non-urban areas.

Frequency of Data Availability
Data release is irregular.

Historical Data
Data are available for 1985, 1988, 1991 and 1995.
