This division covers R&D directed towards improving the efficiency, safety and utility of transport systems for moving freight, passengers or livestock by ground, water, air or any combinations of these (e.g. sea-air transport) or by any other means.
It includes:

• transport safety;
• oceanic currents and processes that impinge on sea safety or navigation;
• transport services and transport support services;
• transport infrastructure; and
• environmental sustainability of transport activities.

Exclusions:
a) Movement of defence related personnel, materials and equipment is included in Division 81 Defence.
b) Transportation of forest products is included in Group 8201 Forestry.
c) Pipeline transportation of energy products is included in Group 8506 Energy Storage, Distribution and Supply.
d) Conservation of energy and improving energy efficiency in transport are included in Group 8507 Energy Conservation and Efficiency.
e) Manufacture of transport equipment is included in Group 8613 Transport Equipment.
f) Transport systems as an integral part of urban planning and the construction of transport infrastructure are included in Division 87 Construction.
g) Pipeline transportation of water and waste handling services such as collection, storage, recycling and disposal provided by local councils or private or non-profit waste management businesses are included in Group 9004 Water and Waste Services.
h) Air quality; control of pests, diseases and exotic species; ecosystem assessment and management; flora, fauna and biodiversity; land and water management; rehabilitation of degraded areas; remnant vegetation and conservation areas; soils; and natural hazards in environments affected by transport activities are included in Division 96 Environment.
