This information paper represents the second of three phases in seeking user feedback on ABS plans for disseminating data from the 2006 Census.

The first phase was conducted in late 2004 and included an information paper, ABS Views on Census Output Strategy (cat. no. 2009.0), a questionnaire seeking feedback from users of Census data, and a series of user consultations conducted in all state and territory capital cities. The focus of the first phase was on the program's strategic goals and how users might gain better access to data.

This information paper accompanies our second round of consultations. Similarly to the first round of consultations, it allows us to communicate with users our proposals for the 2006 Census. Once again, users have the opportunity to respond in person through our user consultations or via the accompanying questionnaire.

In this round of consultation we will be concentrating on the content of our output from the Census.

A final round of information sessions will be conducted in the second half of 2006. At this point we will have finalised our plans for access to data, our range of products, the content of our tables and our planned release dates.
