The aims of this paper are to:

  • inform Census users of the results of the previous round of consultations on the proposed 2006 Census output program
  • seek user opinion on their additional data needs not included in standard outputs from the previous Census
  • inform users of changes to Census data concepts and classifications
  • provide information on the proposed products and services for the 2006 Census
  • seek user views on the proposals.

In particular, the ABS would like to hear users' views regarding the proposed products and services. The accompanying questionnaire has been specifically designed for this purpose. In addition, the ABS welcomes comments on other output related issues that users wish to be considered before the ABS finalises its output plans for the next Census.


This information will greatly assist us in tailoring the design, content and functionality of the full range of 2006 Census products and services to better meet the needs of users of Census data.
