• Monitors and reports any faults or malfunctions of earthmoving plant and equipment

• Breaks through hard surfaces using backhoe attachments
• Uses backhoe attachments to lift and place objects such as pipes, poles and logs

• Performs routine maintenance and inspections on backhoe and attachments

• Dozer Operator

• Scraper Operator (Earthmoving)

• Prepares the bulldozer for operation by conducting pre-start checks and maintenance
• Operates the bulldozer to gouge out, level and move materials according to project specifications
• Uses blades and other attachments to perform tasks such as pushing, grading and compacting materials
• Monitors and adjusts the bulldozer's controls to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Performs routine repairs on the bulldozer as required

• Digger Operator

• Positions, operates, controls, monitors and adjusts heavy excavation plant to excavate, move and load earth, rock and rubble in a safe and efficient manner
• Loads and unloads excavation plant with materials
• Performs pre-start checks and routine maintenance on excavation plant
• May perform manual excavation and shovelling as required

• Determines the appropriate grades and slopes for the construction project
• Operates and controls a grader to spread and level materials such as soil, gravel and asphalt on construction sites
• Monitors and adjusts the grader's speed and blade position to achieve desired results
• Performs routine maintenance tasks on the grader, such as cleaning and lubricating

Registration or licensing may be required.

• Bobcat Operator
• Front-end Loader Operator

• Moves materials to designated areas, and loads and unloads materials onto trucks or other vehicles using the loader
• Weighs and measures materials to ensure accurate loading
• Inspects and maintains the loader to ensure it is in proper working condition
• Performs routine maintenance on the loader, such as cleaning and lubricating

• Tunneller

• Operates and performs routine repairs and maintenance on tunnelling equipment and machinery, such as road header machines and tunnel boring machines
• Excavates and removes soil and rock to create tunnels and shafts
• Installs and maintains support systems, such as timber, steel or concrete linings
• Installs site services such as air supply, ventilation, dust extraction and drainage
• Monitors and adjusts tunnelling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Inspects and tests tunnelling structures for stability and integrity
• Follows engineering plans and specifications to ensure accurate tunnel construction
• Collaborates with engineers and other construction workers to coordinate tunnelling activities
