JANUARY KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, January 2015 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $20,743m, a decrease of $460m (2%) on the revised December 2014 merchandise imports of $21,203m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms fell $219m (1%) between December 2014 and January 2015.
- In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits rose $809m (4%) between December 2014 and January 2015 to $22,659m. Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $338m (4%), capital goods rose $308m (6%) and consumption goods rose $192m (3%). Non-monetary gold fell $28m (10%).
REVISIONS
- Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
- The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
