JUNE KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, the June 2012 merchandise imports were $19,921m, a decrease of $781m (4%) on the May 2012 merchandise imports of $20,702m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms fell $1,097m (5%) between May and June 2012. In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits fell $336m (2%) from $22,011m in May 2012 to $21,675m in June 2012. Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $568m (6%), driven by the fuels and lubricants component, down $729m (20%). Consumption goods fell $124m (2%). Capital goods rose $338m (6%), and non-monetary gold rose $18m (4%).
REVISIONS
- Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
