INTRODUCTION

1. 'Total cash income' is one of the three cash income variables. It is the main variable collected in ABS surveys as an indicator of the economic wellbeing of persons, income units, families and households.

2. This document is intended to be read in conjunction with the 'Framework for standard cash income variables' which provides conceptual background, the Classification of sources of cash income, the question modules used to collect cash income data and definitions of all relevant terminology.
