New motor vehicles sales down: ABS The trend for total new motor vehicle sales fell marginally (0.1%) in March 2002, following growth over the previous nine months, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). New passenger vehicle sales fell by 0.4% while sales of other vehicles rose by 0.5%. Seasonally adjusted sales of new vehicles fell 7.3% in March 2002, the second consecutive monthly fall. Sales of new passenger vehicles were down by 5.6% with other vehicles down by 10.6%. Falls were recorded in all States and Territories.
