NAME THE CUTE LITTLE LAMBS - RESULT

In our last edition of Ag Mag we asked readers to participate in finding suitable names for the two cute little lambs usually pictured in our 'View from the top paddock' article at the beginning of each issue.

Staff in the Output Services section of the Environment and Agriculture BSC in Hobart have carefully short-listed and scrutinised and re-scrutinised and then scrutinised the entries some more and have come up with the winning suggestion ...

And the winner is ... drum roll (paradiddle, paradiddle, paradiddle) ... John from Korumburra in Victoria, whose suggestion was "Aggie and Maggie" ... a clever adaptation of the Ag Mag title. Well done, John and thanks to all those who participated.

A COUPLE OF (REALLY BAD) CHRISTMAS JOKES

A turkey farmer was always experimenting with breeding the perfect turkey. His family was particularly fond of the drumsticks, but there were never enough for them all. After years of patient breeding and many attempts, he finally bred a bird that had six legs!

When asked how it tasted, he said "I don't know ... it ran so fast I could never catch it!"

Two not-too-bright young blokes went deep into the frozen woods searching for a Christmas tree to cut down and take home. After enduring hours of sub-zero temperatures, a few close calls with wild animals and threatening darkness, one finally turned to the other and said ...

"I've had enough of this ... I'm chopping down the next tree I see ... and I don't care if it's decorated or not!"

A CHRISTMAS RECIPE FOR ALL ... NOT JUST DOWN ON THE FARM

We are allowed a little diversion at Christmas aren't we? So here is a recipe for an old Christmas favourite you can try ... not a calorie in sight! ... well, not many. It's always a good treat to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve.

WHITE CHRISTMAS

250 grams copha
3 cups Rice Bubbles
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup mixed dried fruit
1 cup milk powder
3/4 cup sifted icing sugar
A few drops of Vanilla or Rum essence.

Melt copha and stir in all the other ingredients. Add the vanilla or rum essence.
Spread the mixture evenly in a flat tin, place in refrigerator to set and cut into 3 cm squares when firm.
