The seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate increased 0.1 percentage points to 64.6 per cent in October 2014. The ABS reported the number of people employed increased by 24,100 to 11,592,200 in October 2014 (seasonally adjusted). The increase in employment was driven by increased full-time employment for both females (up 26,100) and males (up 7,300). This was partly offset by decreased part-time employment, down 9,400 to 3,533,700. The ABS seasonally adjusted aggregate monthly hours worked series increased in October 2014, up 24.9 million hours (1.6%) to 1,614.4 million hours. The seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed increased by 7,100 to 772,100 in October 2014, the ABS reported. More details are in the October 2014 issue of Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0), as well as the upcoming October 2014 issue of Labour Force, Australia, Detailed (cat. no. 6291.0.55.001) due for release next week on 13 November 2014.
