Having trouble finding ABS statistics?

It's easy if you know the ABS catalogue number:
  • Take note of the ABS cat. no. of the publication you want to find. For example, if you wish to look at Water Account, Australia 2004–05, the cat. no. is 4610.0.
  • On the ABS homepage under the heading “All Statistics” on the left hand menu, click “Access to all ABS products & statistics”.
  • Under the heading “Statistics” choose “By catalogue number” on the left hand menu.
  • Take the first two digits of the cat. no. – for the Water Account, Australia 2004–05 example this is 46. Scroll down the page until you reach “46. Environment”. Click this link.
  • Publications are presented in order of their cat. no. Using the cat. no., scroll down the page until you find the publication you are looking for and click on the title.
  • This will bring up the “Summary” page for the publication. If you want the whole publication, click on the "Details" tab at the top just under the publication title. Then select the "Free download" link you wish to view. You may save a PDF copy of the publication.
  • For previous editions of the publication, click on the “Past and Future Issues” tab.
