TASMANIA

  • From June 2006 to June 2016, eight of the ten SA2s with the largest population increases in Tasmania were within Greater Hobart. The SA2 of Margate - Snug, in Hobart's south, had the largest growth in terms of absolute numbers (up by 1,900 people), followed by Kingston - Huntingfield (1,700) also south of the Hobart CBD, and Brighton - Pontville (1,600) in the north.
  • Brighton - Portville was the fastest-growing SA2 (in that it had the strongest growth rate) in Tasmania between 2006 and 2016, up by 40%. This was followed by Old Beach - Otago and Margate - Snug (both 32%).
  • Of the SA2s outside of Greater Hobart, those with the largest growth were Huonville - Franklin in the state's south-east and Port Sorell on the north-west coast (both 1,200 people). The SA2s with the fastest growth were Miandetta - Don (28%), a suburb of Devonport, and Legana (27%) in northern Tasmania.
