Interstate migration estimates in this Data Cube prior to the September quarter 2011 are final and based on relevant censuses. Estimates for the September quarter 2011 and onwards are preliminary, and modelled on Census 2011 expansion factors, and will only be revised following the 2016 Census.

Previously published estimates for September 2011 to June 2013 were processed using expansion factors from the 2006 Census. As scheduled, these estimates have been updated, based on expansion factors from the 2011 Census, and were released in Australian Demographic Statistics, September Quarter 2013 on 27 March 2014.
